Lakota Circle Helps Support 2018 Chief Bigfoot Memorial Ride

During the month of December from the 15th to the 29th, riders will take the 300 mile horseback ride along the trail Chief Bigfoot followed with his people to Wounded Knee, the site of the Wounded Knee massacre. The journey is both spiritual and educational, a time for the riders to reflect on what happened, and a time for the youth on the journey to gain a better appreciation of the history of their people. Taking place in December and on the open Plains, temperatures can get as low as -20 F while riding up to 35 miles a day. This year, with the generous support of our donors, we are helping to keep the boys and girls, one as young as 8 years old, warm with protective and warm winter clothing and outerwear.
